Bertram H. Judson, 80, passed away September 18, 2015 with his daughter by his side at New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH from Alzheimer's Disease. Bert was born twelfth of sixteen children to Albert and Beulah (Mader) Judson.
Bert was a hardworking man who would give his last dollar in his pocket along with the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. He was a proud member of both The Connecticut Laborers Union and Massachusetts Laborers Union. Bert also served in the United States Air Force for four years.
Bert enjoyed the simple things in life; he loved his freedom, he enjoyed a good walk, he never passed up a good home cooked meal, and cherished spending time with the people he loved. He would often start his day reading several newspapers and solving crossword puzzles in the park with a cup of coffee and cigar. He was an avid Red Sox fan and World War II historian. Prior to his illness, he traveled to Maine regularly to visit his daughter and grand-daughters. He was there for the birth and baptism of his grand-daughters as well as many birthdays and holidays, he loved them dearly.
Berlin residents will remember Bert dressing up to play Santa Claus for local children around the holidays with his authentic beard and jolly good nature. He was a proud member of The Eagles Club where he enjoyed a good game of cribbage and game of pool.
Bert is survived by his only daughter Susan Preble and her husband Tom, two grand daughters, Lilian and Juliann of Bradley, ME; his life-long companion Maureen Atwood, her daughter Tammy and husband Peter LaFlamme; sister-in-law Pauline Judson, brother-in-law Chet Corcoran, his brother Kenneth and wife Theresa, all of Berlin; his sister Marion Glover of Enfield, ME; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bert was pre-deceased by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters, and most recently his brother John "Mellie" Judson of Nebraska, 84, who sadly passed from Alzheimer's on September 19, 2015.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct.3rd at 11:30 AM at Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin for both Bertram and John "Mellie" Judson. There will be no calling hours.
