Roberta E. (Toomey) Germano, 76, of New Bedford died Tuesday September 22, 2015. She was the wife of Manuel Daniel "Dan" Germano.
Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Thomas M. and Rhea (Belisle) Toomey, she lived in New Bedford for many years.
Mrs. Germano spent many cherished years employed as a registered nurse with the New Bedford Public School Department until her retirement. She was a graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, CT.
Pudgie, as she was known to family and friends, will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, her passion for gardening, her mischievous spirit, and her beautiful voice.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Maria J. Germano of Sequim, WA, and Christine R. Germano of Jericho, VT; and her sister, Maureen Pugh of Vista, CA.
She was the sister of the late Francis Toomey.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
