Obituary

CHARLTON: Douglas K. Russell, 74, of Charlton died Tuesday, Sept. 22 in UMass Memorial Hospital University Campus after an illness.
He leaves his daughter Kristen L. May and her husband Jimmy of Charlton, two adoring grandsons Luke & Joshua May, his former wife Laurel A. (Wetteland) Russell of Charlton, a brother James W. Russell and his wife Jeannette of Charlton, a sister-in-law Nancy Russell of Charlton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Harold Russell.
Douglas was born in Southbridge, son of Warren and Thelma (Kingston) Russell. He graduated from Charlton High School and the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He and his wife ran Laurelledge Morgan Farm for many years. He was a former member of the Massachusetts Morgan Horse Association. He was a Chef for many years at several area restaurants. He retired in 2006 from Coyne Textile Co. in Worcester. He enjoyed NASCAR, crossword puzzles, watching the birds at his many bird feeders and nature and science programs on TV. He loved spending time with his family especially taking his grandsons fishing and for rides in his truck on country roads looking for dirt roads and attending their hockey and baseball games. The family would like to thank Dr. Craig Smith and his team for their exceptional care and kindness.
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 PM at J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial in Westridge Cemetery, Charlton will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00-7:00 PM. on Friday.
