Robert Xavier Triggs, Jr., 68, passed away Monday, September 21st, after a battle with Lung Cancer.
Robert leaves his wife of 42 years, Donna A. (Pastore) Triggs; three children, Michael Triggs of Worcester, Cara Rodriguez and her husband Felix of Somerville and Anthony Triggs of Boston; his granddaughter, Amelia Rodriguez; his sisters, Ann Triggs of Worcester, Kathy Dunn and her husband William of Charlton and Maureen Carlomagno and her husband Bernie of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was born on December 3, 1946 in Springfield, the son of Robert X. Triggs, Sr. and Lillian (Martin) Triggs. He attended Our Lady of the Angels Elementary School, and graduated from St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School in 1964. He attended Nichols College and transferred to Worcester State College, where he graduated with a B.A. in Education in 1968 and a M.A. in Education in 1976.
Robert was an elementary school teacher for the town of Millbury from 1968 until 2003. He was awarded the Charles F. Minney Post 3329 VFW Award for being an outstanding teacher. Robert took pride in being a teacher and enjoyed every year he taught.
Robert enjoyed golfing, gardening, and reading. He was a big sports fan and was passionate about the Boston Red Sox. He was an excellent story teller and a constant joker.
He was a kind man who often donated to several charities including the Massachusetts Special Olympics, Alzheimer’s Disease Research, Make a Wish Foundation, and Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Visiting hours for Robert will be held on Thursday, September 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. His Funeral Mass will be on Friday, September 25th at 10:30 am at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s cemetery, Worcester.
