Obituary

WAYLAND: Simon Peter Zable, 99, died peacefully at his residence in Wayland on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
He was born in Boston on August 30, 1916 the son of the late Peter Zablatsky and Veronica (Dameroskey) Zablatsky.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Helen Agnes (Tautznik) Zable of Wayland formerly of Easthampton. Beloved father of Linda Andrzejewski and her husband David of Conway, N.H., Paul Zable and his wife Diane of Springfield and Diane Varrone and her husband Mark of East Haddam, CT. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 6 nieces and 8 nephews. Brother of the late Beatrice Yarnish and Connie Grignon.
Simon spent his earlier years in the Boston area and served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Army. He retired from the United States Army as a Major in August of 1976. He had a long and distinguished career as a tool and die sinker for the Boston Naval Shipyard prior to retiring. He was a longtime communicant of Saint Ann’s Church in Wayland as well as a member of the Retired Officers Association and the American Legion. He and his wife Helen have resided in Wayland for over 65 years.
He took great pride and joy in his yard and gardens at his residence and was a devoted husband and family man to his children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by them as well as all the lives that he touched in his 99 years.
Visitations will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
His Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 124 Cochituate Road (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 219, 2015 at 1:00 pm in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Cemetery, Mayer St, Easthampton.
In lieu of flowers his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to Parmenter Community Care and Hospice, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
