Dorothy T. (Thompson) English age 79, of West Bridgewater, died Monday September 21, 2015 at Heights Crossing Assisted Living after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late Russell B. English.
Dorothy was born, raised and educated in Brockton a daughter of the late George and Luisa (LaGarde) Thompson and had resided in West Bridgewater since 1965. For 25 years, Dorothy worked for the Town of West Bridgewater and retired as the administrative assistant for the Superintendent of Schools in 1995.
In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She had also volunteered many hours at St. Ann Church and the West Bridgewater Food Pantry. She was the first recipient of the Flaherty Award for volunteers in West Bridgewater. Dorothy will be remembered as the sweetest person you’d meet and was always very proper and polite.
Dorothy was the aunt of Florence Marchand of Salem, MA , Alma Keene of W. Bridgewater, Kenneth Thompson of CT, Rosemarie Knox of FL, Maureen Roderick of Bridgewater, James Thompson of Lakeville and the late William Thompson. She leaves many great nieces and nephews including her godson Russell Keene, Janet McGrail, Mark Keene, Jennifer Keene, Michael Marchand, Eugene Marchand, Jr., Michelle Dearborn and Lynette Horsman and many great grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George F. Thompson, Jr. and Gus Thompson.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte.123) Brockton on Friday 10:30-11:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater at noon. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
