Manuel Ferreira Fragoso, 63, of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Sunday September 20, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Lucia M. (Sousa) Fragoso.
Born in Santo Antonio, Sao Miguel, Açores, the son of the late Maria daConceicao Ferreira and Albano Fragoso, he lived in New Bedford since 1991.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mr. Fragoso was employed as a painter for CertaPro Painters.
He was an avid Benfica Soccer fan. He served in the Portuguese Army.
He is survived by his wife, Lucia; three daughters, Carla Raissouni and her husband Samir of Morocco, Andreia Gonneville and her husband Jason of New Bedford, and Rute Fragoso of New Bedford; his siblings, Carlos Fragoso, Albano Fragoso, Maria Helena Miguel, Maria daConceicao Gomes, Gilberta Lino, Jose Eduardo Fragoso, Antonio Fragoso, and Mariazinha Alves, all of Portugal; two grandchildren, Anthony Manuel Forty and Summer Anne Orlandino; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday September 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, followed by burial in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 8:30-10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford prior to the Funeral Mass.
