Maria S. Gallant, 89, of Derry, NH, died Monday September 21, 2015 in the Courville at Manchester, NH. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada on January 9, 1926, a daughter of the late Fred and Rosalie (Barrieau) Goguen. She had been a resident of Derry since 1970, formerly living in Lawrence, MA. Mrs. Gallant had been employed as an assembler for ITT Semiconductor in Lawrence, MA for 23 years, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry, and had been a member of L'Assumption Assoc. for 30 years. Mrs. Gallant enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Jean-Claude Gallant of Merrimack, NH, and Joseph "Serge" Gallant of Derry; two daughters, Gilberte Frechette of Venice, FL, and Eva M. Love of North Conway, NH; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one great great grandson; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph I. Gallant in 2012, and her two sisters, Regina Babineau and Bertha McGrath.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 27th from 1 – 4pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry, with cremation to follow.
