Chester J. Zajac 76 of 39 Crestwood Rd., died Saturday, May 21 at
the Radius Healthcare Center in Worcester after a long battle with
Alzheimer's. He leaves his wife of 48 years Constance G. (Samowski) Zajac,
two daughters, Paula Stewart and her husband Shaun of North Brookfield,
Christine Zajac of Westminster, a grandson, Nickolay Stewart and several
nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Frank Zajac and two
sisters; Mary Mioduszewski and Sophie Junnila.
Born in Auburn he was the son of Michael & Agnes (Michalak) Zajac.
Mr. Zajac was a maintenance mechanic at Thompson Steel in Worcester for 33
years. He attended school in Auburn. He was a member of St. Pius X Church in
Leicester, the Leicester Senior Citizens and the Friends of the Elders. He
was a Marine veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Polish American
Veterans of WW II in Worcester, past State Sgt. of Arms of the PAV and past
state Sgt. of Arms in the MA. State department of PAV. He was an avid
bowler, fisherman and gardner. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank
you to all the wonderful people at Radius Healthcare Center in Worcester for
their kindness.
The funeral will be held Thursday, May 26 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1154 Main
St., Leicester. Burial with military honors will be in Worcester County
Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the
funeral home with a Prayer Service by the Polish American Veterans of
Worcester at 7 p.m.
