Obituary

Harry G. Grizzell, who operated Harry's Barber Shop on E. 38th Street for more than 50 years, died peacefully Saturday at his home. He was 83.

He was one of 15 siblings raised by Everett and Mildred Grizzell and was a native of Kentucky, but lived in Anderson most of his life. He worked at Delco Remy for 38 years before retiring, but kept running the barber shop attached to his home until early this year. He loved talking with people and helping others. When some customers were hospitalized or homebound, Harry made bedside visits to take care of their hair.

Harry's greatest devotions were God, family and friends. He married the former Juanita Tate 56 years ago and she was by his side to the very end. He was an Army veteran, attended East Lynn Christian Church, and belonged to Fellowship Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He also was an honorable member of 10 other Indiana Masonic lodges.

Harry loved hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing. In the coldest of weather, he would walk out on the ice, dragging a homemade sled packed with fishing gear and a hot lunch prepared by his wife. There he would sit blissfully for hours, until he was sure he had caught all the fish. Whether on the ice or in the woods, he believed it was time well spent with family and friends.

Additional survivors include his two children, Juanita (Dale) Parry of Michigan, and Dave (Sandy Trueblood) Grizzell of Middletown; grandchildren, Graylin Grizzell, Sarah Grizzell, Jacob Parry, and Rachel (BJ) Clark; one great-grandchild, Sarah's son, Kole; siblings, Dick (Irene) Grizzell, Wilbur (Minnie) Grizzell, Jim (Cathy) Grizzell, and Jean (Reggie) Hill.

Services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Julie Mullins officiating. The burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

The visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 11:40am.

Memorial contributions may be given to: East Lynn Christian Church or Middletown Food Pantry
