Earl George Helbig, 90, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Overlook Healthcare Center in Charlton.
His wife of almost 50 years, Ruth E. (Cameron) Helbig died January 23, 2005, a daughter, Deborah Ann also predeceased him in 2010.
Mr. Helbig leaves behind a daughter, Marilyn R. Kelley and her husband Mark of Sauderstown, Rhode Island and 2 sons, Gerald W. Helbig and his wife Bobbi of Sturbridge and Michael Helbig and his wife Christine of Phoenix, Arizona, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, November 13, 1924, the son of the late Henry E. and Adela A. (Kalmer) Helbig and has lived here since 2007.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He graduated from Boston College and Princeton University, worked for General Motors as a sales manager and executive for many years.
Mr. Helbig was a member of St. Joseph Church in Charlton, the Garden Club at the Overlook Community, was known as Mr. Fix It.
There are No Calling Hours, a Memorial Service will be at a later date.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam.
The ROBERT J. MILLER-CHARLTON FUNERAL HOME, 175 Old Worcester Rd., is assisting the Helbig family with arrangements.
