Obituary

Louis M. Panagakos, 89, of New Bedford died September 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Home.
He was the husband of Constance (Yotides) Panagakos with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in Saco, Maine, the son of the late Michael and Stavrula (Exarhoulakos) Panagakos, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Mr. Panagakos was formerly employed by Fernandes Supermarket for 20 years until his retirement. He was the former proprietor of Louie's Luncheonette on Brock Ave.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Vicksburg, and was a recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign ribbon with 2 stars, the Philippine Liberation ribbon, the America Area ribbon and the World War II Victory medal.

He enjoyed gardening.
His family would like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Home for the compassionate care that Louis received from them.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jean Allen and her husband Mel of Gettysburg, PA; a brother, George M. Panagakos and his wife Zafi of Acushnet; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Michael L. Panagakos, the father-in-law of the late Ruth Panagakos and the brother of the late Peter M. Panagakos, William M. Panagakos and Charles M. Panagakos.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 21st at 11 AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Church. His family will receive guests at church on Monday morning from 10 - 11 AM prior to his service. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
