Mildred Johnson Evans, 87, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Douglas, Georgia.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with Bishop Timothy Fussell and Rev. George Paulk officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Evans was born May 10, 1918, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Michael and Udell Bordeaux Johnson. She was a former seamstress at Irwin Manufacturing and a homemaker. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the Ocilla Baptist Church and had lived in the community most of her life.
Mrs. Evans is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Ellen and Franklin Martin of Ocilla, Elizabeth Ann and Cecil Winebarger of Yulee, Florida, and Betty Jean and Lamar Bailey of Ocilla; 6 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren; four sisters: Nancy Cato, Dorothy Dukes, Ruby Fussell and Evelyn Buchans, all of Douglas; one half brother: Michael Johnson, Jr. also of Douglas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey Evans.
