Obituary

Carl “Champ” Harris, 76, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
He was born in Central Barren, Ind. He was a member of Briargate Presbyterian Church, retired member of I.B.E.W. Local 369 and a veteran of the Army 100th Division Training Support during the Berlin Crisis.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Taylor Harris; sisters, Daisy Bowling, Della Long and Dorothy Hammack; and brothers, Charlie and Cread Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce J. Harris; two daughters, Carla Harris Carlton (Chad) and Deanna Lynn Harris; sisters, Donetta Keehn, Diana Newerth, Jean Ayres and Doris Polsley Gay; and grandchildren, Harper and Clay Carlton.
As an electrician he helped build Louisville landmarks. But, as a son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, he helped build something more cherished and lasting, a family. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral service will be Saturday 1:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens (West).
Visitation will be Friday 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Saturday after 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
