Obituary

Robert W. Lincoln 76, formally of Londonderry, NH, died September 13, 2015 after a 9 month fight against pancreatic cancer. He was raised in Hingham, MA and graduated from Norwich University in Vermont. He had many lifelong friends from Hingham High School and Norwich University and close friends from Londonderry and the Villages.
He was commissioned in the U.S. Army and spent one year in Viet Nam. He was head football coach at Loyola College in Montreal for several years before returning to New England with a career in electronic purchasing for several companies, retiring from Benchmark Electronics in 2007. He taught several evening courses for NH College over the years. His real passion was his volunteer work in Londonderry, NH. During his years in Londonderry he established the Recreation Commission (chairman ’71), served as the Town auditor, Budget Committee member, and on the School Board from 1972-1993. He saw great changes and was so proud of the community that supported the development. Bob was an active member of the Panthers Organization in his early years and the Londonderry Lions Club until he retired to Florida. He was elected Town Treasurer and served until retiring fulltime to Florida.
He just loved to work with the school department to develop and expand the athletic facilities of the Londonderry School System. For many years he took two weeks of his vacation to work with the schools on a variety of projects and springtime meant it was time to get out his Big White Book to start the planning for the next summer project. He enjoyed it more than just about anything. Two months before he died he helped complete this summer’s project being helped from a wheelchair to a golf cart to survey the field progress.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy; four children: Cindi (Rick) Fisher, Peter (Shelly) Lincoln, Susan Stottlar, and Stephen (Joanne) Stottlar; four siblings: Donald Lincoln, Wendell (Joan Dalton) Lincoln, Shirley (Robert) Lang, and Alan (Rhonda) Lincoln; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his Amory Avenue family.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 24th from 4 - 8p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry.
