Betty (McDonald) Erbentraut, age 86, passed away on Sept. 12, 2015 at the Palmer Health Care Center. She was born on Jan. 2, 1929 in Springfield. She was a daughter of the late John and Rose (DeFlorio) McDonald. She worked as a burr-bench hand for Hamilton Standard for many years before she retired. She was involved in making the first Space Suit for the Apollo mission that walked on the moon. She loved to keep her family well fed and happy and also loved to garden. She is predeceased by her husband Lawrence A. Erbentraut who passed away on May 3, 2014. She leaves 3 sons, Michael Erbentraut of Eugene, OR; John Erbentraut of NC and Gregory Erbentraut of West Springfield; her daughter Cheryl Butler of Tolland, MA; one brother, Niles O’Neil of FL; 6 grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Danielle, Denise Conley and her husband Matthew, Lindsey Erbentraut and her fiancé Michael Hetu, Phillip Erbentraut and his wife Danielle, Steven and Westin Erbentraut. She also leaves her 10 beloved great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Steven Erbentraut who passed away in 1969. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 5 Main St, Russell, MA with a Memorial Mass to start at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date.
