MELROSE: Dana F. Jordan, age 85, a resident of Peabody for 58 years, died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was the husband of Edith G. (Hutchinson) Jordan with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 24th.
Born in Topsfield on April 23, 1920, he was the son of the late Harold and Marion (Killam) Jordan.
Mr. Jordan was raised in Topsfield. He attended Topsfield schools and graduated from Topsfield High School in 1938.
Following his marriage in 1946, he and his wife moved to Peabody, where they lived for 58 years.
Prior to his retirement, he was self employed as a home builder and contractor in the Topsfield and Peabody area for 50 years.
Mr. Jordan was a member of the Jordan Masonic Lodge in Peabody for 46 years.
In his early years, he worked with his family maintaining a dairy farm operation in Topsfield.
Mr. Jordan enjoyed boating, fresh water fishing, gardening, cabinet making, constructing cupolas and doll furniture, playing cards and board games.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 daughter; Barbara Jagla of North Reading and her companion Keith E. Young; 1 son; Edward J. Jordan of Dallas, TX; 1 brother; David Jordan of Port Charlotte, FL; 1 granddaughter; Lauren Jagla of Taos, New Mexico; also several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jordan was the brother of the late Polly Esty and Robert Jordan.
Calling hours Tuesday, May 24th from 5-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. At the request of the family funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the charity of the donor’s choice.
