Obituary

Ronald L. Morrison, of Needham, who was the founder of Ronald L. Morrison Inc., a general contracting business that specialized in commercial and industrial building, died Sat May 21, 2005 at the Beth Israel Deaconess West Campus in Boston after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Brookline he graduated from Brookline High School in 1939 and Norwich University in Northfield VT in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre and was discharged as a 1st Lt. Mr. Morrison had been a longtime Needham resident and had been active in many civic affairs. He had been a Town Meeting member since 1956 and was the second longest serving member. He coached Little League, was a Boy Scout Leader, and served on the PTA Board of the Elliot School in Needham. Mr. Morrison served as a trustee of the Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham from 1967 until 1978 and was Chairman of the Board in 1973-74. He also served as Chairman of the Glover Hospital Building Committee, was a trustee of the Charles Court East Condo Assoc. and had chaired building committee projects for the Town of Needham school projects.
Mr. Morrison was a past president and member of the board of directors of the Needham Exchange Club, and had worked on many club projects including being the co-chair the gazebo project, was the first chairman of the Citrus Committee, the Sunshine Special Committee, and was an advisor on the building of the Carleton Pavilion in Needham.
In recognition for his many years of service to the Needham Exchange Club Mr. Morrison had been selected as “Exchange Extraordinaire” for 2005.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice (Struebig) Morrison; his children Ronald L. Morrison Jr. and his wife Karen of Braintree, Bonnie L. Pinter and her husband Matthew of Big Rapids, MI, Beth Ann Morrison of Houston TX, and Brian C. Morrison and his wife Terri of Milford; his grandchildren Matthew and Alison Pinter and Tyler and Hali Morrison; his brothers and sister Norman B. Morrison of FL, Alan F. Morrison of Needham and Margaret McGowan of Norwood.
A funeral service will be held on Tues May 24 at 11 AM in the Grace Lutheran Church 543 Greendale Ave. Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Mon from 4-8 PM. Interment will be private at Mass National Cemetery in Bourne.
