Obituary

Cecile M. (Cormier) Gagne, 92 formerly of Beverly, passed away peacefully at Masconomet Health Care Center in Topsfield on Saturday, September 12, 2015, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late George H. Gagne.

Born and raised in Salem she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Grace (Boudreau) Cormier and step-daughter of the late Bernadette Cormier and she passed away just days prior to her 93 birthday. Cecile devoted most of her time to her family. She was a loving, caring, generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. In the 1970s and through the early ‘80s she worked in housekeeping for the former Kings Grant of Beverly. A resident of Salem for many years she was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem and member of the sodality, Les Dames de la Ste. Famille. As a resident of Beverly, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and the Beverly Senior Citizens. Cecile was an avid bingo player and lover of crossword puzzles

She is survived by two sons, George L. Gagne and his wife Patricia of Milton, NH, Ronald H. Gagne and his wife Karen of Beverly, a daughter, Pauline A. Gagne of Naples FL, two half brothers, Rene Cormier of Danvers and Ronald Cormier of Florida and Canada. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Sherry Gagne of Marblehead, Kevin Gagne of Bedford, NH, Alyson Velardi of Madbury, NH, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Grace Deneault, Mary Jane Nichols & Rita Pitman and her brother, Roger Cormier.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 9:45 to be followed by her funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, Sept. 17th at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masconomet Health Care, Attn: Residents’ Activities Fund, 123 High St. Topsfield, MA 01983.
