WAYLAND: Mark John Henley, 55, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 following a long illness.
He was born in Natick on February 9, 1960 the son of Ernest S. “Ernie” Henley, Sr. of Pompano Beach, FL formerly of Wayland and the late Margaret “Peaches” (O’Brien) Henley who died on July 20, 1995.
In addition to his father, Mark is survived by his wife Kathleen “Katie” (Dibenedetto) Henley and their daughter Kelly Lynn Henley both of Sudbury. Brother of the late Ernest “Steve” Henley, Jr. who died on October 15, 2003, Michael J. “Mickey” Henley and his wife Michele Henley of Wayland; June M. Henley Dunbar and her husband Steve Dunbar of Palm Bay, FL. Also survived by his four nephews, Cody Henley; Spencer Henley; Shane Henley and Liam Henley and a wide circle of friends.
Mark has been a lifelong resident of Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1978 and attended North Adams State College. For over 30 years he has been the proprietor of M. J. Henley’s Lawn Sprinkler, Inc. of Wayland. During his high school years, Mark excelled in sports especially baseball and hockey and served as a Captain of the Wayland High School hockey team. For many years, he played softball with Henley’s Roadrunners at the Cochituate ball field and throughout MetroWest and traveled the country with a tournament softball league. Mark was an avid golfer and enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted father to his daughter Kelly who was the center of his life and will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know and love Mark throughout his life.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
At the request of his family, funeral services and interment in the Henley family lot in Lakeview Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in Mark’s memory may be sent to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, 1661 Worcester Rd., Suite 301, Framingham, MA 01701.
