Obituary

Mr. Cartha Harper, 81, of Albany, passed away Wednesday, September 09, 2015 at Phoebe North Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the chapel of Hall & Hall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Allen Bingham and Mr. Mike Givens officiating.

Born March 15, 1934 in Ocilla, GA., Mr. Harper was the son of the late Ernest and Thelma Youngblood Harper. He was proud to have served in the United States Air Force and to have played semi-pro baseball with the Georgia-Florida league. Mr. Harper was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan, enjoyed playing golf with his friends and liked to bowl. He was of the Baptist Faith, enjoyed listening to Bill Gaither Homecoming Music and Elvis gospel. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving companion of many years, Dorothy L. Fields of Albany; his sons and daughter-in-law, Vic and Donna Harper of Fitzgerald and Steve Harper of Alapaha, GA.; daughters-and sons-in-law, Robin and Travis Sutton of Fitzgerald, Dana and Rick Francis of Jackson, Jill and Lauren Walker of Fitzgerald and Lorrie and Steve Harper of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Steven and Shannon, Shera and Mark, Ryan, Peyton and Teresa, Brian, Crystal and Lee, Tim and Ashley, Brittany and Josh, Chelsea and Daryl, Logan and Ostley , Madison, Carlee, Christa and Ashley and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Valreen Harper and his infant sister, Lilly Belle Harper.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2015 at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
