Obituary

Belmont----- Leon L. Ellsworth, 87, of Belmont died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Genesis Healthcare in Laconia. Leon was born on January 3, 1928 in Belmont, NH, to parents Everett Ellsworth and Ethel (Hilliard) Ellsworth. After spending time as a Merchant Marine, Leon made a career working as a carpenter and later established and sold the Lakes Region Dock Co., which still operates in Belmont, NH. When he wasn't working hard, Leon enjoyed immersing himself in the outdoors, going fishing, clamming, camping and working in his garden. While not adventuring in the outdoors or walking to visit friends, you would probably have found Leon in his kitchen whipping up a batch of fudge or a pan of brownies. Leon will be missed among his many friends and relatives, but will be remembered as someone who would walk miles for a friendly visit and never failed to suggest a trip to the park or a piece of candy to treat a grandchild.
Leon is survived by his brother William "Billy" Ellsworth; his children Karen Kimball of MA, Lisa Ellsworth of NH, Dwight Ellsworth of NH, Stacy Santos of RI, Linda Place of NH and Leon Ellsworth Jr. of NH. Leon is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Leon is predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Lorraine (Lacroix) Ellsworth; a daughter Sandra (Ellsworth) Burby of SC; his brothers June Ellsworth, Raymond Ellsworth and Wendell Ellsworth; and his sisters Ruth (Ellsworth) Hillierd of NH and Bernice (Ellsworth) Miller of MA.
