Obituary

Laconia-----Mr. Michael E. Grant, 69, of 7 Church St., died at Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, September 6, 2015, in the company of church members.

Michael was born in Laconia, NH, the son of Elaine C. Grant. He was a life-long resident of Laconia, graduating from Laconia High School in 1964. He was employed by Beau Interconnect/ Molex of Gilford NH for many years. In retirement, he worked diligently as the sexton of his church, St James Episcopal.
Despite his struggles with childhood asthma and later, with diabetes, he was an active and positive man. For his last three decades, Michael’s life centered around his church. He brought his mother to church regularly for many years, faithfully served on the altar, and supported church outreach efforts. He personally sent out cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and bereavement to all church members, for many years. He was kind and generous and will be remembered for his good nature and accepting ways. His church family will miss him greatly.
Blessed with enthusiasm and an incredible memory for detail, Mike was an avid Yankees fan and a baseball stats aficionado, a World War II and history buff, and an expert on television actors and shows from the 1950’s onward. He was an excellent conversationalist.
Survivors include an uncle, Armand Maheux, of Laconia; a cousin, Dwight Dow, of Concord; and other second cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family members who went before Michael include his mother, Elaine Grant; an uncle, Herbert Arnold, of Laconia; and aunts, Evelyn Owens, of Concord and Barbara Maheux, of Laconia.
Friends and family would like to thank the St. Francis Nursing Home and Lakes Region General Hospital for their exemplary care of Michael.
There will be no calling hours.
