…retired Digital Supervisor; former cook; 75
LOWELL - Mrs. Marilyn “Bumpsy” (McCartney) Wilcox, age 75, died peacefully at her Lowell home on Sunday, September 6, after a courageous year long battle with cancer.
She was born and raised in Lowell, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Dorothy E. (McSorley) McCartney. She lived in Lowell, and Pelham, NH, throughout her life, and spent most summers at the McCartney family cottage at Cobbett’s Pond in Windham, NH.
She worked as a Cook at the Tewksbury Hospital and also at St. Jeanne D’arc and St. Louis Parishes in Lowell, however, retired from Digital as a facilities supervisor.
Bumpsy was a faithful parishioner of the Holy Family Parish, formerly St. Marie’s, in Lowell, where she had served as president of the Parish’s Cribbage League. She was also known in the Bingo circles in and around Hudson, NH.
She leaves her son and best friend, James D. “Hawkeye” Wilcox of Lowell, with whom she had resided; two daughters, Donna-Lee Costin and her spouse Ronald Reppucci of Malden, Suzanne Heffernan and her partner Cary Silverstein of Malden; her “adopted son,” Harry Bonilla of Lowell; seven grandchildren, Robert F. Heffernan III and his wife Laura of No. Chelmsford, Steven A. Heffernan of Newbury, Tanner J. Heffernan of Malden, Shannon Riga of Fitchburg, Courtney Hadley and her husband Bernie of Stoneham, Caitlin Mae Costin and her spouse Kie of Malden, Alyssa Silverstein of Malden; four great grandchildren, Nathaniel Christopher Snow, Jordan and Noah Dixon and Daniel Palo; was eagerly anticipating the birth of a new great grandson in February; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Roux and Virginia Nash.
Visiting hours Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 12 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
