LEICESTER: Carolyn A. (Grant) Wood 78 of 1075 Main St., died Saturday, Sept. 5 at her home.
Her husband of 50 years, Henry G. "Hank" Wood, died in 2006. She leaves four sons; Thomas P. Wood and Kristi of Worcester, Paul E. Wood of The Villages, Fl., Scott A. Wood and his fiance Linda Morse of Spencer and Keith W. Wood and his wife Jachelle of Ft. Worth, TX., a daughter Tammy Jean Wood of Worcester, a sister Judith Keifer of Worcester, brother in law Donald Wood of Cherry Valley, sister in laws; Barbara Grant of Worcester, Connie Wood of Bonita Springs, Fl. and Jean Wood of Leicester, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Richard Grant.
Carolyn worked as a clerk in the meat dept. at the former Big D and Price Chopper Supermarkets on Mill St. in Worcester for many years.
She was born in Everett, the daughter of George and Eilleen (O'Rourke) Grant and later graduated from Leicester High School. She was involved with the Leicester Drum & Bugle Corps for many years and was a longtime warden in Precinct 2 at the Cherry Valley Election Polls.
She was a life member and past 2 term President of the Cherry Valley American Legion Women's Auxillary and chaired its membership committee for over 14 years.
She was a loyal Patriots Fan. The family would like to thank the staff of JHC Hospice for their compassionate care of Carolyn at her home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 8th.from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cherry Valley American Legion Scholarship Fund, 167 Main St., Cherry Valley, Ma. 01611.
