Doris M. Fucarile, age 88, a longtime resident of Woburn passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home, September 4, 2015, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Fucarile. Born in Concord she was one of three children of the late George and Marie (Nelson) Penney.
Doris was a graduate of the Choate Hospital School of Nursing and worked for over thirty years as a registered nurse. She worked along side Dr. Paul C. Kelleher at his Woburn Family Practice for many of those years. Doris was also a member of the Mother Cabrini Nursing Guild.
Doris was strong in her catholic faith and was very active at the former St. Joseph Church in East Woburn. Mostly devoted to her family she was a talented cook and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and making sure that her home was always a warm and welcoming place for the family to be together. She also loved spending time at her second home in Wells, Maine where the family vacationed together making many wonderful lasting memories. Doris truly loved her family and nothing gave her more joy later in life than when she became a grandmother. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and keeping up to date on their different activities.
The Fucarile family would like offer a special word of appreciation to Doris' caretakers, Ruth, Elise and Linda; of the Associated Homecare Services, for their extraordinary care shown to Doris during her illness.
Doris is survived by her devoted children, Thomas M. Fucarile Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, Donna M. Perkins of Woburn and her late husband Alan, Robert P. Fucarile and his wife Beth of Billerica, Marcia A. Braceland and her husband John of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Sean Fucarile and his wife Yvette, Bryan Fucarile, Lisa and Jacquelyn Perkins, and Stephanie Bracelandand the loving great grandmother of Veronica Fucarile. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Nancy Fucarile of Lynnfield. Sister of Ruth Cole of Marlborough and the late George Penney.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, September 9th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours today, Tuesday, from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions maybe made in Doris' memory to the Arthritis Foundation MA Chapter, Inc., 29 Crafts St., Chatham Center, Newton, MA 02458.
