George E. Quigley, 86, Staff Sergeant, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), of Natick, died on Thursday, September 3, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean M. Quigley with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
A Natick resident for 47 years, he was born in Boston and raised in Wellesley, a graduate of Wellesley High School’s class of 1948. He also attended Boston College High School and the University of New Hampshire, and served in the Korean War. He was the son of the late George and Mary (Kilmane) Quigley and the third oldest of seven siblings.
In 1972, George founded and was President of George Quigley Real Estate, a fixture in downtown Natick for three decades. George was a Realtor and Broker there for most of his professional life. He subsequently joined GMAC Carlson and William Raveis Real Estate in their Natick offices, retiring in 2014. He was a Lifetime Member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and the National Association of Realtors. He was a Raveis President’s Club and Chairman’s Club Honoree, and the recipient of many awards throughout the years as a top Broker. He was known as the consummate professional who approached every transaction with honesty and integrity.
He was active in Natick’s Rotary Club for years.
George’s faith and involvement at St. Patrick’s Church was an integral part of his life. In the late 1970’s, he started a youth group for teenage parishioners, and led programs there on Friday evenings. He taught CCD for many years, and was also active on several Church committees.
In his spare time, George loved to play golf, read and garden. Spending time with family was also most important. He enjoyed traveling later in life.
George demonstrated daily his heartfelt belief to always try to do something for others. He gave generously of his time to help those in need. He frequently delivered his wife Jean’s famous chicken soup, delicious blueberry muffins, coffee cake, or fleece blankets that she had made to cheer up those who were sick or lonely. He will always be remembered by those families who experienced his kindness and compassion.
George is survived by his three loving daughters, Nancy Quigley of Nashville, Mary Quigley of Nashville, and Julie Moore of Wellesley, and his sister Patricia Russell of Marlboro. He is also survived by his cherished grandson, Alex Moore of Wellesley, his sister-in-law Barbara Quigley of Natick and her family, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews and his favorite dogs Karma, Cassidy and the late Sydney and Brownie.
