Obituary

Hattie A. (Bielak) O’Brien passed away on September 2, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

As a young girl Hattie left her home in Brainerd, Minnesota for Chicago where she worked as a seamstress for a Major Clothier. Later, during WWII she worked in a Defense Factory to help the war effort when she met the “Love of her life”, Navy Petty Officer James P. O’Brien. They were married in 1946 and shortly after moved to the Boston area.

Hattie was the devoted wife of the late James P. O’Brien Sr. She was the beloved mother of Arleen Noble and her husband Robert of Chelmsford, James P. O’Brien Jr., Kathleen MacDonald and her husband Donald, and Linda O’Brien all of Malden. Hattie was the Cherished grandmother of Patrick, Daniel, and Mary Noble, Christen and Daniel MacDonald and Stacy Tofuri. She was the great grandmother of Owen and Gavin Tofuri, Brighton Sholas, Hattie MacDonald, Morgan Breen, Alexa, Reegan, Ava, Tyler, Violet and Remi Noble.

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Wednesday September 9th at 9:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church 297 Main Street, Malden at 10:00a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday September 8th from 4-8p.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
