John Donald Dickey, Jr., age 61, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born March 1, 1954 to the late John Donald and Joyce Kauffman Carr Dickey. John was of Baptist faith and a self-employed carpenter. He was an avid fisherman, loved his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in the Tabernacle Cemetery on 32 HWY in Yalobusha County, MS with Bro. Jerry King officiating. James Stacks II, David Lowe, Wayne Hardy, Ricky Jones, Matt Jones, Steve Gray and Dan Howell will serve as pallbearers.
John is survived by his daughters, Sonya Diane (Steve) Gray of Water Valley, MS, Tanya Michele (Dan) Howell of Belden, MS, and Johnnie Ann Kelly of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Connie Sanders of Memphis, TN and Dawn (Bill) McGregor of Oxford, MS; four brothers, Ricky (Pam) Dickey, Mike Dickey, Charles Dickey, and Steven Dickey all of Water Valley, MS; eight grandchildren, Frances Sullivan, Michael Sullivan II, Kayci Sullivan, Marissa Kelly, Tracy Blankenship, Britney Blankenship, James Stacks II, and Brandon Stacks; and two great-grandchildren, Lela Sanders and Matthew Sullivan.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Bell Dickey in 1982.
