Obituary

AUBURN – Alicia M. (Gutierrez) Raymond, 88, formerly of Orleans, MA died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in Webster Manor after a six week illness. Her first husband, James Russell Clark, died in 1960. Her second husband of 41 years, Thomas J. Raymond, died in 2005.
She leaves a son, Geoffrey B. Clark and his wife Michelle A. Clark of West Brookfield, MA; 2 grandchildren, Alice Friedman and her husband Aaron of Brooklyn, NY, and Noah L. Savage of Manhattan, NY; and a brother, John Halvorson of Brewster, MA.
She was born in Cleveland, OH and raised in Cranston, RI and Wellesley, MA the daughter of Gentil and Gladys (Kendrick) Gutierrez. She graduated from Wellesley High School in 1945 and earned an Associate Degree from Stephen’s College in Columbia, MO in 1947. She received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Lesley College, Boston in the 1990’s. She resided in Dallas, TX in the 1950’s, Wellesley, MA in the 1960’s, Cambridge, MA from 1974 to 1988 and then in Orleans, MA until 2013 when she moved to Auburn, MA.
Mrs. Raymond was first a model and an airline stewardess. She then worked as a travel agent in the 1950’s. She owned and operated “Through the Looking Glass,” a children’s clothing store in Orleans for 10 years in the 1990’s.
She was a member of the Federated Church in Orleans.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 AM in Orleans Cemetery, Tonset Road, Orleans, followed by a celebration of her life from 12:30 to 3:30 P.M. at the Old Sea Pines Inn, 2553 Main St., Rte 6A, East Brewster, MA. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, 869 Main St., Brewster, MA 02631. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA.
