Lawrence A. Kendrew, formerly of Kingston and Whitman, passed away at Beth-Israel Hospital on August 30, 2015 at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband of Mary L (Hanf) Kendrew, devoted father to Cindy Schulmeister, Patty Fredette, Brian Kendrew and Dorie Kendrew; also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Born in Dorchester, son of the late Alice E. (Knapp) Kendrew, Larry was a graduate of Brockton High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Boston Gear after 40 years and found pleasure working at Stop & Shop in his later years. Larry was a member of the Mayflower Congregational Church in Kingston. He loved to garden and was a fervent fan of all his Boston sports teams. He was a devoted husband who cherished his wife of 60 years.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 9:30AM in the Mayflower Congregational Church, 207 Main Street, Kingston. Following the church service, a graveside ceremony will be held in Oakland Cemetery, 20 Glebe Street, Taunton. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 4th from 4:00–7:00 PM, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.
Following the visitation friends and family are invited to the Inn On The Green Restaurant, 436 Oak St., East Bridgewater.
