Carmela A. “Kitty” Allen, 96, of Andover passed away on Sunday August 30th 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Academy Manor Nursing Home. She was born on April 21st 1919, raised and educated in Lawrence, MA. Kitty started working at the Wood Mill in Lawrence and then worked at BF Goodrich in Watertown, MA and most recently worked along two of her closest friends Rosa Hagopian and Mike Lomazzo at Demoulas supermarket in Salem NH for 30 years prior to retirement. In her free time Kitty enjoyed gardening her rose bushes and trees, spending time in her backyard talking with family and friends and cooking her favorite recipes. It was not unusual to see her zipping around town in her beloved black Buick Riviera.
“Kitty” was predeceased by her mother Mrs. Andrea Grasso.
“Kitty” is survived by her children Betty A. Miloro of Windham NH, Joseph Maggio and his wife Jeanne of Newton NH. Grandchildren Michael Miloro and his wife Patricia of Derry, Adam Miloro and his wife Keri of Atkinson, Joseph, and John Maggio of New Hampshire. 8 great grandchildren, brothers Alfred and Andrew Grasso, several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours for “Kitty” on Friday September 4th from 5-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A brief prayer service will take place at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home immediately following calling hours at 8 PM on Friday September 4th. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Kitty’s honor may be made to Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown MA 02472. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Allen Family through this difficult time.
