Obituary

Richard “Rich” James Rizzo, Jr., 65, of Davenport, Florida passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Bonny (Theall) Rizzo for almost 45 years.

Born in Cambridge on May 16, 1950, he was the son of Irene (O’Connell) Rizzo of Plainville and the late Richard James Rizzo, Sr.

Rich was a resident of Davenport for the past two years and formerly resided in Medway for 35 years.

He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton North High School in 1968.

Rich proudly served in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War.

Before his retirement he worked at Metalor Technologies in North Attleboro for 5 years and had formerly worked at Polaroid Corporation for 35 years.

Rich was a dedicated donor to the American Red Cross for over 25 years, giving 122 units of whole blood and platelets.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time in Florida and visiting the Walt Disney World area. Rich loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Amy Wasnewsky and her husband, Justin of Plainville and Heather Fife and her husband Timothy of Winthrop and five grandchildren, Ryan, Julia, Katelyn, Hunter and Dylan.

He is also survived by a sister Janet Rizzo of Plainville and a brother Thomas Rizzo and his wife Karyn of Spruce Head, Maine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, September 12 at 1 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rich’s memory to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
