Obituary

Martha G. (Park) Rice, 78, of Derry, NH passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in the Ridgewood Center, Bedford, NH. Martha was born June 19, 1937 in Wilmington, MA the ninth child of Philip S. and Dorothy (Rodden) Park. Since she was a child, Martha was always a member of our “particular family pack!” She was the FIRST to get hurt and the FIRST to catch a germ and of course she had to pass it on to us! Surprisingly even though she was so small, she was a dare-devil with spunk. Then poor Martha had a lot of freckles. She took a lot of ribbing for that and whatever else her brothers could think of at the time. They loved to tease her. Martha attended schools mostly in Wilmington, MA, graduating in the Class of 1956. After graduation, she enjoyed traveling across the US, through Hawaii and Canada as well as Europe touring the beautiful countries of Holland, Switzerland, Germany, France and England with her sister Ruth and brother, Allen. In the earlier part of her life, Martha worked mostly for manufacturing companies. However, she later became interested in the Home Health Care field and was employed by various clients until her retirement in 2013. She was a people person and enjoyed helping them…far beyond expectations. Martha was married to and later divorced Norman W. Rice, Jr.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Janet S. Burrows and her seven grandchildren all of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves seven brothers; Robert A. Park (Louise) of Andover, MA, Philip S. Park Jr (Laurette) of Windham, NH, David C. Park of Boston, MA, Allen R. Park of Salem, NH, Thomas W. Park of Chelmsford, MA, Kenneth D. Park (Nancy) of Pittsfield, NH, and Lloyd L. Park (Patricia) of Sarasota, FL; three sisters, Marjorie L. Belloir (Shirley) of Andover, MA, Ruth P. Fuss of Evergreen Park, IL, and Pauline S. Park of Phoenix, AZ, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Phyllis D. Morse, Beverly A. Briggs, Priscilla J. Park, Nancy E. Park and Shirley L. Bower; and brothers, Richard W., Ronald E., William M. and baby Edward Park.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, private memorial services will be held at the convenience for the family
