Mrs. Faye Shealy Tison, 91, of Ashburn, GA passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Crisp Regional Hospital. She is survived by her twin daughters, Cathy T. Enelow and Carla T. Payne both of Cordele, GA; her grandchildren, Jennifer P. Hampton of Forsyth, GA, Kimberly P. (Chris) Cook of Raleigh, NC and James T. Enelow of Dallas, TX.; her great grandchildren, Josua P. Hampton, Rachel Elizabeth, Sarah Ann and Abigail Grace Cook.
She is also survived by her sisters, Frances S. Ellerbee of Musella, GA and Georgia S. Stephens of Dalton, GA and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was born in Sparks, GA to the late Roscoe L. and Gertrude Cribb Shealy on May 31, 1924. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Joe Perry Tison.
A member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church, she served as Sunday school teacher for the 1st through the 3rd grades and taught vacation Bible School for many years. She graduated from Ashburn High School in 1943. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her husband after his retirement in 1983.
She loved children and served as a grade mother and President of the P.T.A. when her girls were in elementary school.
She was multi-talented, an accomplished seamstress and beautician as well as a consummate cook. She worked as a hostess at Smith’s Café; an assistant florist at Blackwell’s Flower Shop and was a volunteer for The American Red Cross at blood drives. She served as a bailiff for The Turner County Superior Courts and as a Voter Poll Official for Turner County Board of Elections.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, September 5 at 2:00 PM in The Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.
