Obituary

SALEM- Helen C. Olbrych, 97, of Salem, wife of the late Charles K. Olbrych, died Tuesday evening, May 17, 2005, at the Life Care Center of The North Shore in Lynn following a long illness.

Born is Salem, she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Anastasia (Kempka) Bartnicki.

Prior to her retirement in 1970, Mrs. Olbrych was employed as the restaurant manager at the House of Seven Gables in Salem. She previously worked at the former Empire’s Clothing Store in Salem and was previously associated with the Hudson Bus Lines.

A lifelong resident of the city, she was active in the Polish Community. She was a lifelong parishioner of the St. John The Baptist Church, president for 38 years of the Women’s Polish American Citizens Club, member of the House of Seven Gables Settlement Association, the Polish Falcons, Nest #188, the St. Joseph Society, PRCU, The St. John Society, the St. Elizabeth’s Society and the PLAV, Ladies Auxiliary, Post, 55, all of Salem. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association of Boston, an AARP member and fund raising volunteer, and a member of the Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women’s Clubs, Inc. She had been awarded honorary membership status by both the Mass. Federation of Polish Women’s Clubs and the Polish Roman Catholic Union.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Moustakis and Sandra J. Baldwin, both of Salem, two grandsons, Christopher Moustakis, Dennis Moustakis, both of Salem, three great grandchildren, Elise, Lorin and Emily, one brother, Bernard and his wife Jennie Bartnicki of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alice Lepkowski, Vincent, Charles, Edmund and Jane Bartnicki.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Friday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends invited.
