Oxford- Ruth E. (Dimock) Wandrei, 87, passed away at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.
A lifelong resident of Oxford, Ruth was a daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Rich) Dimock.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alfred E. Wandrei; daughter Joan and her husband Harry Gong of Chelmsford; son David and his wife Phyllis of Sterling; son Steven of Oxford; granddaughter Emily and her fiancé David; and grandson Brian and his wife Kyle. She was predeceased by her son James. Ruth also leaves her four sisters: Doris Martin of North Carolina, Margery Shedd of Oregon, Barbara Commons of South Yarmouth, and Susan Gordon of Webster, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruth graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and Assumption College in Worcester and taught for many years in the Oxford School System and at the Bancroft School in Worcester. Following her teaching career she worked in retail management for the former Bed and Bath stores. She had many, many interests, all involving learning, most notably quilting and travel, especially to her beloved Italy.
Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and support of Accord Adult Day Center in Webster, Home Staff in Worcester, and the Rose Monahan Hospice Home during her last year.
All services will be private.
