Dominick J. Forti, 89, of Franklin, died August 21 in the Harrington House in Walpole. He was the husband of Stella (Natale) Forti for the past 67 years.
Born in Boston, February 8,1926, the son of the late Frank and Catherine (Gazzaro) Forti, Mr. Forti was raised in East Boston and Revere and lived Hyde Park and Hyannis before moving to Franklin 11 years ago.
Mr. Forti had been a service technician for the General Electric Company for 20 years. He then owned and operated Polaris Sub Shop in Randolph and Mr.G’s Sub Shop in Stoughton.
Mr. Forti had been very active at the Franklin Senior Center where he also took care of the garden at the Center.
He had also volunteered at St. Rocco’s Italian Festival for many years.
He loved to cook and garden in his spare time.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Shirley Ponzo and her husband Charlie of Cape Coral, Florida, Elaine Provenzano and her husband John of Norwell, Barbara Hogan and her husband Richard of Elkridge, Maryland and Donna Swift and her husband Dean of Franklin.
He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 25 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at 9:15 followed by funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
