TEWKSBURY - Beatrice M. (Mercer) MacLaren, age 67, a resident of Tewksbury for the last
six decades, died Tuesday morning, May 17, at her daughter’s home in Tewksbury, after a brief
illness. She was born in Newfoundland, on April 11, 1938, the daughter of Lewllyn Mercer of
Tewksbury and the late Edith (Lucas) Mercer. She emigrated from Canada to Tewksbury in
1941.
She worked as a dispatcher for the Tewksbury Transit Company until her retirement in 2003.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald W. MacLaren and his wife Linda
(Kirkland) of Tewksbury, Douglas L. MacLaren and his wife Giselle (Boucher) of Dracut, Dennis
MacLaren of Londonderry, NH, Daren MacLaren and his wife Ellen (Herlihy) of Londonderrry,
NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie B. Capuano and her husband Michael of Tewksbury; nine
grandchildren, Donald, Jennifer, Jonathan, Renee, Adam, and Kayla MacLaren, Michael,
Kimberly, and Kerri Capuano; and many dear friends including Dennis and Cindy Trudel of
Pelham and Andrew and Beth LaFortune of Tewksbury.
Her funeral service was held Friday, May 20, in the funeral home. Interment followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Greater Lowell VNA Hospice, P.O. 1965, Lowell, MA 01853
will be appreciated.
