Robert H. Holland, 85, of Center Ossipee, NH, passed away on Sunday August 16, 2015 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. He was born in Berlin, NH on November 3, 1929 the son of Henry J. and Beatrice E. (Hazzard) Holland and was very proud to have been born and raised in Berlin. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1947 and attended UNH. Bob had worked in the woods as a scaler for The Brown Company, worked for NH Fish and Game, worked as a radio announcer for WMOU in Berlin and was station manager at WBNC in North Conway. Bob was a Boy Scout Troop Leader in Conway and Belmont. He worked for Paquette Paving in Meredith, Pike Industries and retired from Tilcon-Whitcomb, where he managed Conway Sand & Gravel and Twin Mountain Sand & Gravel. Robert was proud to have created the slogan that was selected as a winning motto for Berlin, “The City That Trees Built”. He was a member of the Gorham-Sabattis Lodge #73 F & AM, was a life member of the ELKS Club, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time at his camp and traveling.
Family includes his wife of 32 years Carol Lorenz Holland of Center Ossipee, NH; children R. David Holland and wife Carol of Lakeside, AZ, James G. Holland and significant other Susan Dumais of Sanbornton, NH and Heidi Holland Bickerton and husband Jason Bickerton of Tuftonboro, NH; 2 grandchildren Samantha A. Bickerton and Fisher J. Bickerton; brother Richard J. Holland and wife Suzie of The Villages, FL; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara A. (Santy) Holland.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
