LAWRENCE: Matthew Donald Yonika, age 34, a resident of Lawrence for the past 2 years, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at the Lawrence General Hospital, following an apparent aneurysm.
He was born in Framingham on September 6, 1970, the son of Janet M. (Borstell) Larivee of Arlington and Donald Yonika of Milford, NH.
Mr. Yonika was raised in Natick and attended Natick schools.
He was currently employed as a customer service representative by the Verizon Corporation of Andover, where he worked for the past 5 years.
Prior to moving to Lawrence, he lived in Lowell for 3 years.
Mr. Yonika enjoyed many activities including karate, riding his motorcycle, playing poker and caring for his dog “Cola”.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister; Laurel Beth Yonika of Austin, TX; his maternal grandparents; George R. and Mary T. (Farquharson) Borstell of Wakefield; his paternal grandmother; Victoria Yonika of California; 2 step-sisters; Willow and Saige Yonika both of Milford, NH; his step brother; Ian Yonika of Milford, NH; close friends; Chris and Marissa Murphy of Lawrence; also many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Yonika was the paternal grandson of the late Domenic Yonika.
Calling hours Monday, May 16th from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 17th at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
