Alvernaz and the late Mary Delores (Cabral) Alvernaz. Step-Daughter of Francelina Alvernaz. She was a resident of Somerset for 6 years. She was employed as Head Teller and Customer Service representative for the Citizen Union Savings Bank of Fall River where she had worked for 17 years. She was a member of the Lion’s Club. She was a participant in the E.D.A.C. study in Diabetic Research at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She volunteered at the Clara Barton Summer Camp for diabetic children. She was devoted to her Husband, Son and Family. She enjoyed her pets, traveling, cooking and reading. She was a member of St. John of God Church.
Besides her Husband of Somerset and Father and Step-Mother of Fall River, she is survived by 1 Son:Russell Lopes Jr. of Somerset. 2 Brothers:Joseph M. Alvernaz of Springfield, MA and Richard Alvernaz of Somerset, MA. Niece of Al "Uncle" Cabral. 8 Nieces and Nephews & 3 Godchildren.
Her Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street, Fall River, MA on Tuesday at 8:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset, MA at 9:00 AM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, MA. Calling hours are Monday 6-9 PM.
