Obituary

PAXTON— Lucy A. (Vartigian) Kasparian, 81, died Friday, May 13, 2005, in UMass Memorial Healthcare. Her husband of 56 years, Zarvin Kasparian died in 2001. She leaves a sister and a brother, Sarkine Akullian and Ralph Vartigian- both of Troy, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Paul Vartigian predeceased her.

She was born in Watervliet, N.Y., daughter of Sarkis and Alice (Postoian) Vartigian. She studied at Clark University. Mrs. Kasparian joined Guaranty Bank & Trust in 1951 and was named secretary to the president the following year. She became a bank officer in 1968. She was a member of the National Association of Bank Women, the Women's Committee of the Massachusetts Bankers Association, and the meeting committee at the Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a member and past president of the Worcester Business & Professional Woman's Club. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, where she was a member of the Women's Guild, the Bingo Committee, and the AVAKS, which she was a founding member and served as chairman for over 25 years. She was also presented The St. Vartans Award in 2003 for out standing service to the Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16th at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St. Worcester. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15th at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St, Worcester, MA 01609.
