Marie T. (McDermott) McGrath, 77, of 5 Bay Edge Dr. died Thursday, May 12, in the Christopher House. She leaves her husband of 54 years, William F. McGrath; a brother, Edward J. McDermott of East Dennis; two sisters, Sallie A. Mullaney of Worcester and Claire A. Girouard of Paxton and nieces and nephews. A sister, Winifred P. Higgins of Hudson died in 1999. She was born in Worcester, daughter of James J. and Sadie G. (Kelley) McDermott and graduated from St. Peter’s High School.
Mrs. McGrath worked for the New England Telephone Company, Guaranty Bank and Trust and was a secretary at the Medical Telephone Bureau, before retiring.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Church and the Foothills Theatre Company, a life member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence and former Treasurer of the Gift Shop and the Holy Family League of Charity. She enjoyed collecting rare books, walking, gardening and traveling.
The funeral will be held Monday, May 16, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday, May 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
