Martinez, GA – Daniel S. Anderson, III, 12/15/1929 – 8/15/15, passed away at home with his family by his side. He attended Richmond Academy, and then served in the United States Navy.
He was a retired electrician and a member of IBEW 1579 for 63 years. He was a dedicated member of Central Christian Church serving as Elder Emeritus, Elder, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, Board Chairman, door greeter, and numerous other positions, including being a member of the Golden Agers.
Dan also served in the Georgia Region Disciple Men and was named Layman of Year in 2009. He is survived by his wife, sweetheart, best friend; Neva Johnson Anderson, one son; Danny Anderson (Jeanne), three daughters; Diane Houghton (Bill), Jean Roberts (Earl) of Martinez, Cindy Powell (Larry) of Gilbert, AZ, one step daughter; Kay Heard (Dr. William) of Fernandina Beach, FL, brother; Otey Anderson (Bea) of Martinez, two sisters; Alice Schieberl of Augusta, Billie Mae Richey (Eddie) of Hampton, VA, 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Terry Anderson, step son; Chuck Field, wife; Helen Anderson; and his parents; Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Anderson, Jr (Spike).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Central Christian Church with Rev. Tip Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorials Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ed Gilliland, Charlie Sidener, James Lamb, Frank Thomas, Harold Gay, John Anderson, Steve Willard, and Bill Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Central Christian Church and retired members of IBEW Local 1579.
