Jean L. Favreau, 71, departed this life on Monday, August 17, 2015 after a courageous 10 month battle with cancer. He was happy to spend his last days in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Manchester on December 2, 1943, Jean was the son of George Emile and Florida (Tremblay) Favreau. He was a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School in Manchester. Jean proudly served his country in the National Guards from 1961 – 1967. He was a lifelong resident of NH, residing in Litchfield since 1973, and formerly living in Manchester. Jean is survived by his partner and wife of 22 years Margaret (Peggy Langley) Favreau of Litchfield, daughter Nicole Kingsbury and spouse Charles Salisbury of Manchester; his son Stacie Favreau and wife Stacey of Goffstown, son Jason Favreau of Manchester; stepdaughter Teri Vigneault and spouse Aaron of Manchester and stepson Nicholas Stevens of Manchester. Jean was also blessed with eight wonderful grandchildren; Tanner, Dillon, Brady, Riley, Briana, Justin, Haley and Tylar. Jean also leaves behind his brother Paul Favreau of Manchester and sister Claire Lalane of Manchester; many nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Jean was a lucky man. He was blessed with three wonderful children early on in life with his first wife, Elaine (Soucy) Goudreau. Jean was an amazing father who enjoyed spending as much time as he could with all his children, whether he was coaching their baseball or hockey team, taking them on one of many wonderful vacations, the traditional Sunday soup, assisting with multiple home renovation projects, or just being “Jean” at many family events. He started working for the Manchester Redimix Companies early in life as a driver, and worked his way up to Plant Manager. Over the course of the 37 years he was with Redimix, he developed a reputation for being the best in the business. He met many great people over the years who admired and respected him, both personally and professionally. In his 50’s, Jean met the love of his life, Peggy. Jean was lucky enough to spend the last 22 years of his life with her, and boy were they great years. When they first met, they enjoyed spending their weekends out on their Harley motorcycle. Once Jean retired at 62, they knew they wanted to travel so what better way to see the United States than in a motorhome! So across the states they went, but they really fell in love with two particular places, Myrtle Beach, SC and St. Petersburg, FL. After several years of spending time in both places, they realized that Florida was the place they wanted to call home. So they bought a home in St. Pete and became snow birds, spending the winters down there. Along their journey, Jean developed a knack for metal detecting, spending hours out on the beach in the morning before high tide. He dug up many treasures over the years and kept every single one of them. Jean and Peggy also cherished their furry family that went back and forth with them from NH to FL over the years, their dogs Jake, Maggie and Gracie and cats Sophie and Logan. Yes, Jean was a lucky man who lived a good life.
