Edgar H. Messier, 80, of 12 Adams St., died Wednesday, May 11 at
UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester after an illness.
He was the husband of Anita E. (Couture) Messier who died in 1993.
He leaves three daughters; Karen Willhite and her husband Timothy of Galena,
Kansas, Tammy Socha and her husband Joseph of Rochdale, Linda Shimansky of
East Corinth, VT., 10 grandchildren; Jennifer, Thomas, David & Matthew
Jaquith, Rebekah, Daniel, Mollie, Timothy, Erin & Stella Socha, two
brothers, Normand and Emile Messier of Spencer and several nieces and
nephews.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Roland and Robert Messier and a sister
Claire Audette.
Born in Spencer he was the son of Joseph & Eva (Duval) Messier and has lived
here all his life.
Mr. Messier was a thread miller at Reed, Rolled Thread & Die Co. in Holden
for 43 years before retiring in 1987. After his retirement he did yardwork
for several area residents. He was a life time member of the Spencer Fish &
Game. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Spencer and volunteered at the
annual Bazar, he also helped with maintenance and was a collector during
Sunday Masses.
The funeral will be held Saturday, May 14 from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON
FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church,
60 Maple St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Spencer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box
