WESTPORT - Jacintho “Jesse” Ferreira, 80, 854 State Rd., Westport, MA, died Sunday at his home with his family by his side. Husband of Laura (Oliveira) Ferreira. He was the father of Jerald Ferreira of Tiverton, RI & Kathleen Ferreira of No.Westport, MA. Brother of Angelina Viveiros of Swansea, MA. One Grandson and Several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Edward Ferreira, Mary Giguere, and Evelyn Elias.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Jacintho Ferreira and the late Diamentina (Medeiros) Ferreira. He was a Westport resident since 1950. He worked in Maintenance and Shipping first at Sagamore Mills from 1946-1962; then in 1962 at Sterling Pile Finishing Co. until 1982 when he retired. He was an avid Flea Marketer at the Rte. 177 Flea Market He was a U.S.Army Veteran of WW II, having received a Purple Heart. He was a P.O.W from Jan.1944 to May 1945. He was a member of St. George Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. on Thursday at 8:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. George Church at 9:30 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
