Craig A. Johns, 61, of Waterman Lake Drive, Harmony, died peacefully in his home on Friday, August 14, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Barbara L. Ostrove. They had been married for 22 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William D. and Marilyn M. (Stake) Johns, Sr. He had lived in Harmony since 1993 and had previously resided in Smithfield and Barrington. He was self-employed with the Law Office of Craig A. Johns in Cranston, previously a trial attorney for Nationwide Insurance.
An avid skier, sailor, chef, musician, motorcyclist and general lover of life, Craig’s spirit is hard to capture with words. He was a passionate and loyal friend who would’ve given the shirt off his back to anyone (we’ve actually seen him do it).
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Megan L. Johns of Tampa, FL, Amanda “Mandy” Johns Corrigan and her husband Matthew Corrigan of Los Angeles, CA, his brother, William D. Johns, Jr. and his husband Rick Carbone of Southbury, CT, his mother Marilyn (Stake) Johns of Harmony, mother-in-law Eileen Ostrove and sister-in-law Nona Ostrove of New Jersey.
His Funeral will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 with a Memorial Service at 11AM in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his honor to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163 and PeaceLove Studios in Hope Artiste Village, 999 Main St, Unit #704, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
Following the funeral service, the family is holding a large party at the house to celebrate Craig’s life: just the way he would have wanted. There will be bands, swimming, and joy. Tie-dye, rock band tees, and Hawaiian shirts strongly encouraged. Craig was a master at bringing people together, and in that spirit, please join us to say goodbye to our dear friend, father, and husband.
