Obituary

CHICOPEE – Theresa M. (Laplante) Duquette, 93, a former resident of the McKinley House in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 13, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at West Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 15, 1921, a beloved daughter of the late J. Albert Laplante and Florida (Portugaes) Laplante Charron. She was raised in Montreal, settled in the North End section of Springfield in the mid 1940’s and later moved to Chicopee in the 1980’s. She was employed as a time keeper at the former Buxton Company in Agawam. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She was currently a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Bernard A. Duquette who was Called Home on May 13, 1972; her loving son, Roger P. “Duke” Duquette who was Called Home on July 11, 2013; her two dear brothers, Georges and Roger Laplante; and her dear sister, Georgette Charron. She leaves her two loving sons, Robert L. Duquette and his wife, Jeannine, and Donald R. Duquette and his wife, Maureen, all of Chicopee; her loving daughter-in-law, Linda J. Duquette of Springfield; her five cherished grandchildren, Jennifer L. Duquette, Renee M. Aube and her husband, Steve, Andre J. Duquette and his wife, Dawn, Noelle M. Duquette and Monique L. Duquette; her five cherished great-grandchildren, Austin, Ava and Alex Aube and Quinton and Devin Duquette; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Duquette, Laplante and Charron families. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, August 18, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140.
